Flotilla sailing - Ionian Sea
One of the most popular ways of sailing in the Greek Islands is in a flotilla.
Flotillas are the ideal compromise between bareboat and a crewed charter vacations.
The standard flotilla is usually between five to ten yachts.
With a flotilla you will skipper your own boat, together with a fleet of several other yachts. The lead yacht, skippered by an experienced skipper (flotilla leader), will guide you and the rest of the flotilla from port to port. The flotilla leader will help you skipper the yacht by yourself.
Flotilla sailing holidays is ideal for families with young children, who will then have the opportunity to play with other kids.
FLOTILLA IN THE IONIAN SEE
The Ionians are a yachtsman’s paradise of secluded coves, rocky bays and sandy beaches. Gentle calm seas make it one of the safest sailing areas in the world, and yet there is plenty to do and see.
Each island has its idiosyncrasies of culture and cuisine, and differing dollops of European and British influences. Their surfeit of charms include mountainside monasteries, Venetian campaniles, unspoilt villages, ancient olive groves, famous wines, white beaches and ludicrously blue-heaven waters.
